Oh no. The ancient gods of sitcom and cinema tried to warn us that something like this might happen, but we did not listen, did not prepare, and now the hurricane is upon us.
Yannit isn’t the only one in danger here. Indrel berserking is… not laser targeted, and even if she only goes for Kalgkur we’ve seen that her arms can break stone.
Gosh dangit. I’m gonna be on the edge of my seat about this. How dare.
Something terrifying that occurred to me. We know through and through now, that Indrel have very bad reactions to Baxxid. But… Is there something in reverse too possibly? We’ve seen how threatening Kalgkur can be when he’s *really* pushed to the wall. We’ve seen Yannit in full Indrel panic mode, but have we really seen a *combat focused* Indrel, like we saw with Kalgkur?
Oh god, is anyone except POSSIBLY Isher going to be capable of helping pull these two apart, if it isn’t over in a split second?
… That or this ends in Yakety Sax with the split second reaction of a fleeing terrified Baxxid, and a rage mode Indrel. I… I realize I’m very invested in these sweet poor cinnamon roll bug monsters.
Add on thought. Like with previous scenes of Yannit, or Kassen’s first reaction to the post surgery of Elim. You’ve a great way with.. expressing emotions through your panels, and the alien yet relateable viewpoint of Yannit.
Maybe Yannit’s fear-conditioning will push her to “flight” rather than “fight.” With luck, she’ll just flee to Ran’s lab and hide. I’m trying to be hopeful…
in panel 5, it looks like Kalgkur’s Blade it too close to Lopin, Yannit might see it as Lopins in danger and move to protect Her friend, by eather fighting, Or grabing Lopin and Fleeing
One interesting thing, look at how detailed her vision is of the serrated edge of the arm blade compared to the rest of the panels. I think she’s focused in on just the very tip. However Lopin appears normal. Could be a setup where they can generate a composite image from different zoom levels depending on the eyes used, sort of like binocular vision in humans.
I think you are talking about “depth of field.” The tip of Kalgkur’s appendage is practically touching Yannit’s “face,” but it is still just as in-focus as Lopin, who is an (human) arm’s length away. Additionally, in Yannit’s “vision,” you can see the red baxxid miasma from #319 steaming off that tip before it overwhelms the entire frame in that last panel.
Props to including that little tip of Yannit’s antenna(?) in panel 2 to subtly hint at their impending proximity and also to show their disparity in height.
Oops.
Title drop!

That uniform is going to get ruined now, isn’t it.
And here, Kalgkur will be forced to display his new found restraint, so that he does not kill Yannit.

Looks like the excrement is about to hit the wind-making device.

Anyway, blood for the blood god etc.

Possibly. I think it’s more exaggeration on Yannit’s part because of how she’s been conditioned.
