I’m betting an arm is gone. The “rrrrrip” means something has been torn open. And the blood splatter means an artery has been hit, so not just clothing nor just a surface wound. It’d be odd to kill her (narratively) and the medical staff definitely couldn’t handle an extreme chest wound. A lost limb would be a lot easier to treat.
But if it was a lost arm, that doesn’t make total sense either. The attack is a crushing/squeezing, not a grab and pull. So we would expect a “crack” sound effect if the arm was grabbed and crushed, from the bone. So maybe not that.
How sharp are indrel claws? I thought their attacks were primarily crushing with dull but strong claws. But no attack like that is consistent with the sound effect and blood splatter.
Also can yinglet eyes actually contract vertically like that?
Could be a ripping off of scales. Fresh enough blood with enough violence behind its liberation can absolutely splatter that bright red.
Isher has de sopretty eyes, if she no needs zhem any more, can I has one? Am asking for zhe friend, of course.
Maybe the horn? That’d take some ripping. Maybe we finally find out Isher’s dark secret!
I guess we’ll see just how big and strong Isher is. I really hope nothing too grievous happened.
On the other hand, having a large, nasty scar will keep her in “scary guard” duty more than ever.
Is so true, seeing zhat Isher’s supposed “cursed” bloodline has been made much of in de past. Be a dissapointment zhat we only find out during Ran’s autopsy as to what she really was, eh? Or if Isher got egg heavy from her romantic tryst. Zhat and Ran’s gonna need a bigger specimen bottle.
As it is, here, it feels like dat scene on de Godzilla movie where de guy says “Let Zhem Fight” seeing zhat if Isher is EVER going to be something ozher zhan a big softie, it will be to save Kass’s furry ass.
Got one panel already specifying an approximate distance, so the next one grants more of a quantity, relatively speaking. As someone whom has spent more than enough time in a hospital as the patient, I will say that arteries tend to give off more blood than that, especially on larger, more ‘fit’ individuals. She probably has a large surface wound, skin and scale, more painful than debilitating in the long term. This would also match the implied sound closer. I can only really say this much because of how much Val focus’s on minor details in Rans scientific papers and what-not.
As for the eyes? If you go back through the comic at large, you’ll notice that the eyes of the yinglets follow a specific behavior pattern: namely the diurnal(<-day and/or night) predator(<-hunter), such as your house cat.
(And yes Val, I love reading your journal/report exerts.)

I am assuming the “rip” is from clothing rather than skin, though the blood certainly indicates SOME kind of laceration has occurred.

Don’t worry about it to much. I have two names here under two emails just because sometimes login-in isn’t possible. I don’t think anyone here expects the comments section to be functional, or clean, just honest.
What catches me out sometimes is if you login and then go back to the login page /wp-admin/ it logs you out again.

It ate a dozen of my comments before I caught on.
Zhe alternative was bot spam zhat sometimes took up whole pages to get past. De boss spent more time moderating zhis site, zhan he did drawing Yinglets. De WordPress zhing works fine, unless you have de mobile phone.
For a while, I would post a throwaway test post so that after that one was invisible, the next one would post correctly. But even that stopped after a while, so signing up is now the ONLY option.

Since Fall of 2023, I think. And no gaps since then.
