Kass gets a little dose of “Oh yeah I’m not dealing with friends here these are business-minded people willing to make sacrifices in pursuit of their goals.”
tl;dr: “We were already aware of this as a possibility, we had already put prepared measures into place, those measures are now being acted upon. Please remember YOUR role in all of this, and work to enact any plans YOU might have, assuming you prepared any.”
Is like moving to South Carolina, and learning when everyone says “Bless your Heart” zhey aren’t being kind. Lopin is learning from being around humanity, but zhere has not been much time past since Lopin’s arrival to start speaking wizh a human accent.
I hadn’t thought of it like that, but now that you mention it, it’s even more funny! And you’re probably right that it wouldn’t be Lopin’s style to talk like that. But I do think his vocabulary is going to grow a lot if he keeps hanging out around Ran.
I’d be worried too. Zhis is de same group zhat still hasn’t found Brakka yet. Plus despite Kass yelling her head off, nobody’s arrived yet. Trust is earned, and Kass isn’t a ValSalian patriot, instead working because they are getting rewards from de Trademaster. Kass’s friends are injured, like every one in de whole comic at this point save for Lopin. Being concerned is absolutely warranted.
That’s because Brakka is getting ploughed like a field by scavophiles on the daily. Of course they haven’t found him, they haven’t asked the local degenerates about a brain damaged new onahole.
You know zhis, because you are a reader of de comic. How de Fek does Kass know zhat? Kass hasn’t been told about de Yinglet Enclave being tasked to find Brakka as far as I know, so from Kass’s perspective, her little circle of influence (security) is disappearing faster zhan a bucket of clams do when set in front of me. She’s not in a good place to do more zhan pray she isn’t working for a lunatic, as she hates everyzhing about Yinglet society, but seeing all her friends hurt and bleeding (Save for Lopin, who is a angel and must not ever be hurt) really has to drive home zhat she is not in a safe place here.
While I can appreciate Ran’s need for secrecy, I think Kass should have been at least notified there were plans for this. Kass is the one that brought Yannit in in the first place, and is the one to have the most contact with her.

Also it might cause a panic.
“Long things” is a perfect description of what Ran says. I wonder if Lopin will start picking up that style himself?
