Trademaster jumpscare
Atop the tower · awaits the tutor,
worry-weary, · as spymaster whispers
of enraged renegade · on the run,
tracked by the Trademaster. · Despite her trauma
the survivor stays hidden, · perpetrator and victim.
No scientist foresaw · this worm-born sickness,
but he bears the blame · as though it belongs
to him alone. · And so he languishes.
Nicely done.
Thanks! Idk how long I’ll keep the gimmick up, but for now I’m having fun with it. I’m def not as hard committed as some here are. Honestly, I’m just happy to see someone even read it lol
(On a side note, I feel like I should’ve said “teacher” instead of “tutor”. Realized right after hitting post.)
So she’s a missing person, not dead. I guess that’s something? I can’t remember if we’ve seen the “waterfront district” in these comic pages. Would you go through there on the way to the yinglets’ enclave?
We saw it in the prologue, it’s where Kass bought That Thing off Lopin. I’m not sure if we’ve seen it since – things have been rather busy.
At least Yannit is alive. And alive means getting more information and possibly finding a solution to the problem.
Didn’t we technically see it during Isher’s one-night stand? The pretty boy Kass stand-in was a sailor, so the bar they met in probably would’ve been in that district.
Feel like that’s foreshadowing. The Tradesmaster might have to leave for an extended period, or become otherwise engaged, requiring Ran to step up as Acting Tradesmaster.
I could be wrong, but I just saw it as a moment of understanding between friends. I think he knows Ran well enough not to consider him for the job, but the thought of it is funny. I can’t even imagine the horrors Ran might playfully unleash on the city if he actually were persuaded to serve as a stand-in.
Ran already found a substitute for the “calm down” pheromone, right? Couldn’t they just flood the district with it to hopefully bring her out of attack mode, assuming they have enough on hand?
How do we know she’s still in “attack mode”? I assume she’s just freaking out and worried that she can’t go back now. Perhaps all she needs is for Kass or Ran or someone to tell her everything is fine and they just want her back and safe.
I just noticed that the guy in the first panel of this page looks a lot like the guy on page 110, talking to Beizel about the search for Brakka. Maybe they’re brothers, or is it the same guy after a fresh shave? Ooh, what if Yannit, in her search for a hiding place, stumbles upon the dungeon where Brakka ended up?
Yeah, I think it’s the same guy and minor differences can be accounted for as a combination of art style evolution and the comics taking place at least several days if not weeks apart. I’ve been referring to him as the spymaster, though I’m not sure if that’s actually an accurate moniker.
Considering he was talking with Beizel, who is the yinglet spymaster, you’re most likely correct.
But woulds you dos it for zome clammies Ran? Woulds yous? Huh? Huh Ran? Huh huh huh woulds yous? Ha haz!
I be quiets now an goes back to my smashied an covered in bug-bloods box. Waiiiiit… O_o
Somehow I zhink he wouldn’t. Once you are de boss, you don’t get to mess wizh people, because you gotta be all kinds of respectable, like a Patriarch. No fun zhere!
Also, looking good in your winter fur, Mine makes me feel like a walking cotton ball, but at least I’m not shivering.
